Suggestions for books that capture the multi dimensional dilemma partner of a criminal faces as an aftermath of the crime i.e confusion over whether they still love the person, their urge to protect them, their shame in still loving them, their mourning over end of their future dreams, their guilt for not hating the criminal 100%.
I have read few books in this genre (that i list below) but it is usually about familial ties which I feel removes one layer of complexity (the complexity of choosing to still love their family member, as blood ties).
1. We need to talk about Kevin.
2. My sister, the serial killer.
Both of this book are pretty well written but as I mentioned, one of the reason these people still continue to support and love these criminals is cause they are family members (which somehow they use to justify their guilt).
