I’m a super avid reader, (like, over 150 books in the past year avid) mainly of scifi and fantasy. My fave authors are Neil gaiman and ursula k le guin, but I’m also a huge fan of Becky chambers, Isaac Asimov, terry pratchett, Jeff vandermeer, and a ton more. I go through lots of books v quickly so pretty much anything is welcome
Things that draw me to stories are varied, and don’t need to be there but can be a bonus. These include
– Explorations of stories and storytelling
– characters trying to uncover mysteries
– Layered narratives, esp thru time
– Motifs of keys, tarot, gateways/doors
– Generational curses, and other reckoning with the past
– History, especially objects holding history
– Books, libraries, museums, etc.
– interesting social structures and explorations of society/ philosophy
– transness/ queerness and disability
I’m an adult but tend to avoid things w gratuitous sex scenes (a few sentences is fine)
I just finished the book of speculation by erika swyler and the starless sea by Erin morgensten, both of which I loved.
