I used to read a lot of books when I was younger, back when there were fewer distractions around and I miss that time. So I recently got back into “reading”. I read A thousand splendid suns last year, made the last page wet with my tears and turned right back into beginning. Didn’t read book after that for a year because I couldn’t find something interesting enough to commit hours to. Still I really wanted to “read” something so I got a subscription for audible and listened to the audible adaption of 1984 by Orwell (amazing performance, highly recommended it’s only 5 hours). And I’m left wanting more of that experience (not necessarily more Orwell). I’m slowly making my way through Anna Karenina but it’s a big book.
Can you recommend me a book you think would be easy for me to get into? Something that hooks you right away and possibly also like short maybe 200-300 pages (although bigger is also fine).
I’m fine with most genres but my favourite from back when I used to read was young adult and fiction. Huge fan of Darren Shan, Demonata Series, Cirque De Freak. Also love Alex Rides, all of Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton’d works. For non fiction, I’ll read anything to do with math, physics or tech history. Huge scientific history nerd here. I’m also chill with Japanese history, poetry and literature as well. Yukio Mishima, Dazai, Kafka etc. are some of the authors I like, fine with English or Japanese. Thank you in advance if you do end up reading and suggesting something.
