Tomorrow I’m leaving for a two week solo trip to Spain and Portugal. Ideally I’d like to read something set in Spain or Portugal. I don’t read that much usually but for reference, I enjoyed Siddartha and The Gambler.

I’ve looked through some threads and found some good recommendations, El árbol de la ciencia sounds interesting but sadly there are no English or German translations available on Kindle. I will probably read One Hundred Years of Solitude and The house of the spirits although they’re set in Latin America, and The shadow of the Wind seems to fit but I don’t know if the ‘child in a bookstore’ setting is for me.

Maybe you have some other recommendations for me? Otherwise I’ll probably just go with One Hundred Years of Solitude cause the village setting sounds interesting. Thanks!

    1. Arturo Perez-Reverte has written several excellent books located in Spain. If you like historical stories, have a look at the Captain Alatriste -series or The Dumas Club.
