Man oh man. If I had to pick only one favorite book this one has got to be it. When I was a kid it was my favorite movie and I had watched it so many times. I swear this movie was embedded in my soul. It always left a lasting impression on me.
Not until my mid twenties did I realize this was actually a book on accident because one night I was looking for ways to stream the movie as a rewatch. How I spent this many years not realizing there was a book? Idk but I’m glad I waited so long to read.
The book is just as beautiful and wonderful as I had hoped, even more so. Each sentence felt like it was lovingly crafted, I was immersed in my favorite childhood story again but it was 100 times better. The scene where the unicorn met Molly Grue broke me in a way I didn’t expect. Nothing was more beautiful and nostalgic than this read.
sorry for the long winded rant but this book and this movie is a sweet little reminder to me on how impactful storytelling can be. If there’s any fantasy readers on this sub who haven’t read this already please do. Also if there’s only one book you could claim as a favorite what would it be?
