Does anyone have recommendations in this vein? I love historical fiction centred on women, but I have PTSD and don’t want to read anything with sexual violence or any sort of sexual abuse. I know it’s part of history (I study women’s history) but I don’t want to read about it in my free time. I use StoryGraph but when I try to filter for this it usually just shows me books that haven’t had content warnings added for them yet.
Some books I have read that I think fit this:
* The Woman Who Breathed Two Worlds by Selina Siak Chin Yoke
* Thank You, Mr. Nixon by Gish Jen
* Little Gods by Meng Jin
* Mem by Bethany C. Morrow
* The Laws of Evening by Mary Yukari Waters
Some books that were OK for me (had brief references but didn’t trigger full PTSD episodes)
* The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
* When Two Feathers Fell From the Sky by Margaret Verble
* Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo
* The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty
* A Master of Djinn by P. Djèlí Clark
* A Sweet Sting of Salt by Rose Sutherland
Thank you!

Lady Tans Circle of Women – there is no sexual violence but there is violence.
