Fantasy where the MC gradually build up an empire

Preferably without the MC getting betrayed later on – as if their friends and subjects are completely loyal to the MC and are all working together to build themselves up to be a force of their realm. Whatever happens outside their kingdom is fair game.

I suppose a better way to phrase it is a cozy fantasy? Not sure if that’s right but I hope I got the message across.
