My wife and I have been together for about 18 years, I’ve been reading romance novels of all kinds to her for over a decade. Recently, we’ve been having trouble finding novels that interest either of us. She prefers slow-burn romances, usually set in the Victorian Era (I know, I know), with strong female characters, male characters that are not complete assholes, and she finds humor in mild misunderstandings that are blown completely out of proportion.
My only requirements are little to no angst and a male character that isn’t a total dick.
I’m not limiting options to Victorian Era as she’s enjoyed everything from fantasy and sci-fi to steampunk (Girl Genius was a favorite) to (my least favorite but she sometimes likes it) paranormal romances.
I’d love to hear some recommendations on novels that might get her (and maybe my) interest. Yes, I do all the voices (and sound effects).
