I’m looking for autobiographies written around the 1850s to 1950. I enjoy reading about people’s upbringings and the struggles they faced during those times.
Recently, I’ve read and really enjoyed “Love, Lucy” by Lucille Ball, “A Book” by Desi Arnaz, “Groucho and Me” by Groucho Marx, and “Pioneer Work in Opening the Medical Profession to Women” by Elizabeth Blackwell.
Thanks 🙂

[A fun short one for you](http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks/w00014.html)
[Confessions of an English Opium Eater](https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2040) is older than you are looking for, but a great read nevertheless.
Down and Out in Paris and London is absolutely amazing, and probably my top choice. Orwell’s non-fiction deserves more praise (Road to Wigan is also impressive in terms of capturing the struggles of the English working man).
Cross Creek by Rawlings is delightful, if occasionally racist.
