Hi! I’m a 60 year old hippie grannie who loves to read and never tires of it. Lately I’m finding it difficult to keep focused on books so I’m turning to Reddit for help.
My favorite genre is historical fiction, and my favorite books are the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, Naomi Novik’s Temeraire series, Anne of Green Gables, et al, The Maeve Chronicles, Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel series, and the Game of Thrones series. Favorite authors include Julia Quinn, Morgan Llywelyn, C.J. Box, Albert Payson Terhune, Lee Childs, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Judith Merkle Riley, Jean M. Auel, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Margaret Atwood. As I said, I generally love historical fiction but am burnt out on WWI & WWII, usually dislike American Civil War fiction. I read voraciously, usually 2-3 books a week, and am often reading 2-3 books at the same time. I have ADHD so I need to have a lot going on. I’m okay with a little fantasy but I like the worlds I read about to resemble our own. As far as sci-fi goes, I like dystopian fiction, enjoyed Hitchhiker’s Guide and Oryx & Crake, but don’t read a lot of it. I guess I’m a pretty eclectic reader.
So. I’d love to get some good book suggestions. Bonus points for series!

Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries (2 books in the series so far, with at least one more forthcoming)
Maybe try the Murderbot Diaries too. First one is All Systems Red.
I am unsure if you are trying to find books like the ones you love or really stretch out of your comfort zone. I’d say above are in your wheelhouse.
James Michener, ken follett are both good historical fiction authors
