Along the lines of Ann Cleeves.

No USA settings please. Other countries, fine.

I liked her Vera series because there is no real personal life stuff. I hate the ones where the cop is traumatized from past, or newly divorced and we hear all about it, or not divorced but we hear all about it. Really, personal life to a minimum is the requirement.

No corrupt depts or others working against the main character. Tiresome.

Normal happyish cops solving crimes is what I want.

I have read Jane Harpers, Tim Sullivans, and a few other Aussie ones…the UK and Aussie so far have won out.

A couple of the Nordics failed due to half the books being about personal lives.

Tana French – some were good, some not. Again too much personal life ruins them for me.

So…normal murder solving, by cops, not priests, gardeners, PIs, lawyers, forensic people or whatever…with minimal personal life stuff?
