Now that Don Winslow is done writing novels I’m just curious what people think about his work. Personally, I love it. I think he does an amazing job of combining intricate narratives while also showing you how criminal organizations and other things work without talking down to you.
My favorite works of his are probably the Savages trilogy or the Border trilogy but honestly the only bad book of his I’ve read is isle of Joy (although I haven’t read any Neil Carey books because they’re very difficult to find). Apart from that pretty much everything is a great read, even Satori which I enjoyed far more than Shibumi, which kind of disappeared up its own ass.
What’s everyone else think? To me he’s one of the all time greats

So far I have only read The Power of the Dog, and I thought that was amazing. Best crime novel about the drug trade I’ve ever read. I will definitely read more by him.
