I’m looking for a nonfictional book that I can learn interesting facts from, but also has intriguing stories behind them. Basically hard sci-fi without the fi. Ideally they should be readable by a layman, but still have interesting deep explanations.
Some related books I’ve enjoyed:
* Pandora’s Lab by Paul A. Offit. Basically anything by Offit
* Atomic Adventures by James Mahaffey. Basically anything by Mahaffey
* Behave by Robert M. Sopolsky
A bit hard to read, but good nonetheless.
* Bad Science by Ben Goldacre. Anything by Goldacre
* Anything by Bill Bryson
* Flash Boys by Michael Lewis
* This Is How They Tell Me the World Ends: The Cyberweapons Arms Race by Nicole Perloth
