So I just spent my last few months reading the entire Dune saga, and immediately after went on to read the Hyperion cantos. I absolutely loved both, and thought that the deep philosophical undertones are what made reading them such an enjoyable experience for me. However, I must say that I am absolutely exhausted. I read a lot of ethics and philosophy for school as well, and I am just feeling really burnt out, I don’t want to take a break from reading, but I do think that it might be time for a semi-short (200-300 pages) fantasy or sci-fi book that won’t be so exhausting for me. It can be part of a series, but I would prefer to find something that is a standalone book. I don’t feel like diving back into an entire new series right now, I just need something to cleanse my palate. Any recommendations?
