Disclaimer! I have very bad taste. I know I do. I started getting into these kind of stories as a child and it has kind of been my safe haven since. Dont hate me for it…
As a teenager i loveddd reading. I still do, but it has gotten harder to keep being into it as a result of me being very very picky
Here are some books I’ve read as a teenager that I loved
– I am Number Four
– The Darkest Minds
– The Maze runner
– Shatter Me
– I think you see the pattern now hahahaha
Books I’ve read recently and loved
-Fairytale (Stephen King)
-Vicious (V.E schwapp)
Tropes I love (which you can pretty much gather from the lists above lol)
-Main character has something special (chosen one, powers, son or daughter of someone important)
-Superpowers will always be my favorite thing ever (especially in a world where its not an usual occurrence. So where only the main character has it. That or either a power that is much stronger than average )
-recently read some books with a female protagonist. Would be fun to read from a male protagonist’s perspective again
Recommendations don’t have to be perfect. If you’re into these kind of stories as well and loved a similar or not so similar book. Feel free to let me know!

Maybe this: The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon is a captivating novel that follows the extraordinary journey of two Jewish cousins, Joe Kavalier and Sam Clay, as they enter the world of comic book creation during the golden age of superheroes.
Pumpkin, you can read whatever you want. You have permission. That said, I have read and enjoyed these: Divergent series by Veronica Roth, A Darker Shade of Magic, Six of Crows, Renegades series or Lunar Chronicles series (starts with Cinder) by Marissa Meyer, Caraval by Stephanie Garber, City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, The Lightning Thief (the book series is awesome – way better than the movie). I haven’t read but have heard good things about authors Kiera Cass, Sarah J Maas, and Victoria Aveyard as well. ETA more ideas: Crave by Tracy Wolff, A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik, The School for Good and Evil
The Rookie (Galactic Football League, Book 1) by Scott Sigler
Set 700 years in the future. Earth is a third-rate religious freak zone, but Earth-based football is the most popular sport in the galaxy (which is run by fascist insectisoids and alien gangsters)
Multiple species play various positions. Protagonist is a 19-year old quarterback, 7’5”, 350 pounds. Yup.
