Looking to purchase books on ancient demons, ghosts, spirits, and gods. An encyclopedia of sorts or a collection of information. Particularly pertaining to the “Old World”: Mesopotamia (Sumerian and Akkadian), Indus, Egyptian; Ancient China even.

I’m not lookin to perform magic/magick, learn spells, invoke, or really do anything like that at all. Instead, I’m looking for something encyclopedic, as this is more of an on the side, personal interest. I‘m taking an academic in nature approach, but don’t want to limit any recommendations to academia. I want to have fun reading about the topic: Older texts, esoteric, obscure or unusual books about the subject, whatever.

The more detail the better. I don’t mind if it is a series of volumes or a collection either.

All I keep finding are fake books, stuff that people who want to be witches, magicians or whatever else, want. Generally, what I would consider snake oil for people with power fantasies, and stuff that targets a certain audience that‘s looking this stuff up for shallow reasons. 

I have found some cool stuff by R.C. Thompson but outside of that I’m not sure where to go. 

Of course, if I am in the wrong place, any recommendations on where to look or go are greatly appreciated.
