Suggest me a book about humanity and how/why people think, feel, and perceive the way that they do
Looking to gift a friend the book. They’ve been talking about and looking for a book to better understand others.
This person is sort of set in their ways and a bit closed minded (narcissistic-like). Please suggest an easy read!
Beartown by Fredrik Backman – I don’t want to give too much away, but I think it does a good job showing where people’s motivations might come from and what makes them think/feel certain ways. TW: rape

On Giving Up by Adam Phillips
Missing Out by Adam Phillips
The Beast in the Nursery by Adam Phillips
Phillips is an incredibly insightful, generous, and gentle writer, and his books are a pleasure to read. He writes about being human, with all of its complexity and contradictions, and muses about why people think and believe the things they do.

Lord of the Flies by William Golding (no, it has nothing to do with The Lord of the Rings)
It is about a group of schoolboys who are stranded on an island and attempt to set up some kind of order and governance among themselves in order to survive.
I was simply stunned when I first read this.

Maybe Brain on Fire, it’s a memoir and talks about the connection between biology, personality and mental illness, how each shapes us outside of our core personality or essence. She’s a journalist so it’s well written too
