When I was a child, I was obsessed with A. B. Curtiss’ “In the Company of Bears”, but it wasn’t because of the writing, it was because I was completely encompassed by the illustrations. Each image seemed to radiate a tranquility that I can’t quite describe, but, even as a child, this tranquil aura somehow felt nostalgic, and now, as an adult, it truly IS nostalgic.
My friend recently had a baby girl, and I’d like to get her this book, but I also want to get her some others that have a similar vibe, art-wise. I found the illustrator, Barbara E. Stone, but it appears this is the only BOOK she actually illustrated. If there are any other children’s books that have calming, sentimental, and almost euphoric (?) illustrations, please lmk!
