edit: she broke up with me lol
We’re both adults (23 and 21) She’s been going through a bit of a rough time recently and asked me to read her a book over video chat before she sleeps to keep her mind off things. I actually really enjoy it and she wants me to read another one when we’re done with this one. The Perks of Being a Wallflower was just what I had downloaded on my Kindle at the time. It can be anything. Adventure, biography, another corny teen novel (we both relate to Charlie a lot), fantasy (we’re both big fantasy nerds), sci-fi, poetry, anything as long as it’s not horror and is at least somewhat happy, it doesn’t have to be about 20-somethings.
Previously we read American Gods and 1984 simultaneously in a two person book club type deal. We loved American Gods. The Kingkiller Chronicles are both our favorite books. I’ve been thinking of The Tale of Despereaux, The Catcher in the Rye, 11/22/63 (but it’s quite long), The Hobbit, Wonder, or a John Green novel.

The fault in our stars
Well, that changed on a dime.
I’m sorry, but she broke up with you within 12 MINUTES of posting this?
Anyway, I wouldn’t say this has a “happy” endingC but if you want a book where breaking up seems to be a large plot-line to help you get over this hump, try “Severance” by Ling Ma.
It’s a really good book, regardless, and the ending is a bit optimistic lol. The central theme does not revolve around breaking up, but I think you could argue that SOME part of the moral is learning how to move on.
upvote bc she broke up w u within 21 minutes of posting this lmfaooooooo rip buddy
