I really don't know what I'm looking for right now, but I've been really itching to enjoy a good book lately. Here is some stuff I have enjoyed in the past and why I've enjoyed it:

The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov – This is probably my favorite book of all time. I particularly like the first half (not that the second half isn't also amazing), I love the various characters all crossing paths as chaos is stirred up by the devil and his entourage, I love how frantic it all feels.

Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco – This book is just completely genius. I don't particularly know how to explain why I liked it, but I loved every page of it.

If on a winter's night a traveller & Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino – If on a winter's night is a creative experiment, and it was just a really fun read, I really like Calvino's style. I loved the poetry-like prose of Invisible Cities and the allegory behind the description of each city.

Not a recommendation, sorry, but I’m also reading Master and the Margarita and plan on starting Invisible Cities today. I think your post is a sign that I should also check out Foucault’s Pendulum!
