I never really read books growing up and I am just now starting to get more into them. I apparently can only read books that Andy Weir writes. I can also manage the Harry Potter books. I think something that is easy enough to read and also easy to get into right off the bat. I have tried other books and if they take too long to set up the story I usually get bored and abandon them. Any help appreciated!

Try ROCKET SHIP GALILEO by Robert Heinlein — like THE MARTIAN, it’s a very nuts-and-bolts story of kids building a rocket ship to take them to the moon.
It’s the first of [a series of kids’ books that Heinlein wrote](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinlein_juveniles), all of which have become sci-fi classics. Another good one is HAVE SPACESUIT — WILL TRAVEL.
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch is a very easy to read, fast paced, sci-fi thriller
We Are Satellites by Sarah Pinsker. I think she has an easily readable writing style.
[And Then There Were N-1](https://escapepod.org/2018/11/01/escape-pod-652-and-then-there-were-n-one-part-1/) by Sarah Pinsker, a novella available free at the link.
