I fail to understand how anyone can enjoy moby dick as an overall reading experience

Catcher and the Rye. I’ve started it so many times and can never finish it. It’s so tedious.

Their Eyes Were Watching God. It’s hailed as a paragon of black american literature, a feminist classic, etc.
I found it extremely tedious and the storyline boring until chapter 17, at which point the tone shifts dramatically and I began enjoying watching the characters suffer. I don’t know what they were on about regarding feminism, though. I’d bet millions it’s one of the least feminist novels I’ve ever read.
I do wonder if I hadn’t been made to read it for school (in *three* separate classes) if I wouldn’t hate it so much.

Infinite Jest. “It insists upon itself!”
