I'm looking for a detective novel with a specific vibe:
"I knew that dame was gonna be trouble, but she pays well, and damn if I don't love a challenge."
Kinda like the old-time hard-boiled detectives, less goofy than Dick Tracy, but with a positive (or at least neutral) ending.
