I’ll be honest I’ve read very few nonfiction books, I don’t really care for self help or memoirs but anything else is fair game, am really kind of in the mood for some history that’s easy to digest, don’t care when or where but preferably before 19th century. Also open to non historical recs as well though!
I’ll be going on a 17 hour drive by myself pretty soon so figured what better way to listen to a book than when I make the drive? So looking for something gripping enough where the drive won’t be so horrendous. I have a lot of time so it can be any book. Want to expand my horizons and learn something new in the process.

The Radium Girls by Kate Moore is incredible. It’s early 20th century but still worth a read.
How the Post Office Created America by Winifred Gallagher
*The Armada* by Garret Mattingly: 16th century. It’s a great book. I read a printed copy years ago, but the audiobook is 15.5 hours.
Non-history rec *How Music Works: The Science and Psychology of Beautiful Sounds, from Beethoven to the Beatles and Beyond* by John Powell
Into Thin Air by Krakauer is absolutely riveting. A bunch of his stuff is good but that one kept me up until 3am.
The Devil in the White City is another one that I just couldn’t put down.
Anything by Bill Bryson
