Looking for a few summer reads (or listens) but haven’t had much luck. Think something like the Great Gatsby, or Lolita, or Brideshead Revisited, or even The Little Friend or CMBYN.
Books where summer is taking place, but it’s not totally focused on the season / being at the beach. Just looking more for the ~vibe~. Imagine the feeling you get when there’s sweat on the back of your neck in the sun. Even self-help books that take place over the course of a summer could be cool. I included “no phone” in the title because I would prefer something that would allow me to escape (without being fantasy), and generally like to avoid books that contain modern tech.
Please, no romance. No Hoover, nothing that looks like the cover was created in Canva. Old books are fine. Flower-y language is a plus. Thank you!!

Patricia Highsmith, The Tremor of Forgery
Tove Jansson, The Summer Book
