The Visit by durrenmatt! klara is meant to be a villain and the protagonist sympathetic, but i felt quite glad when he had his comeuppance.
she’s ridiculously camp too. she is carried around in a palanquin by two burly men, has an ivory leg, and owns a pet panther. there’s also an incredible musical adaptation where she’s played by Pia Douwes.

This is the entire premise of *The Count of Monte Cristo*. Most of the story is the revenge arc. MC gets screwed over and then sent to prison on fabricated charges by a whole group of people, and another political prisoner he meets helps him escape and get rich. Several horrendous villains get exactly what they deserve.
