PLEASE READ: Hey guys, I’m a YA that has never really read books before in my younger life. I started a few years ago. When I was younger, I couldn’t focus, wasn’t as interested, and didn’t really have the time. Then when I was a late teenager I went through my Wattpad/smut phase for some years. I feel like I’ve outgrown that for the most part. I don’t really know what books/novels to read, and I wanted some great book recommendations. I don’t really care what genre. I’m open to anything as long as it’s GREAT. Not just the plot, but the writing itself. I want to read enriching literature, where the writing is beautiful and done very well. I want to read stories that i’ll not only learn from, but ones that will stick with me and make me FEEL SOMETHING. Whether it be fear or heartache, I don’t care just as long as it’s heavily evocative. I usually lean more towards romance, horror, or scandal of some sort; and I love disturbing themes. I’ve always been a movie/show fanatic but I want to expand my horizons and become more of a reader. I’m open to book series as well.

So far I’ve read Gone Girl, My Dark Vanessa, Sharp Objects, and started (a little more than halfway through) Call Me By Your Name. I really enjoyed My Dark Vanessa. I also read It Ends with Us and HATED IT. It was anticlimactic and the writing itself was basic and boring to me and I just didn’t like it at all. It felt like a waste of my time. That was the first and last time I’d ever get a book recommendation from TikTok. If you have books like IEWU in mind, please dont recommend them to me.

On my list of books to read so far is (not all of them):
    The Song of Achilles,
    The bell Jar,
    And Then there were none,
A song of Ice and Fire (SERIES),
    Dune (SERIES),
    LOTR (SERIES),
    Interview with the vampire (SERIES),
    Pride and prejudice,
    Wuthering Heights,
    The shining and Misery,
    American Psycho.

    Maybe books list:
Boy parts (seen alot of mixed reviews about this one, so I’m not sure),
The Bridgerton novels (not sure yet if these are worth the read).

The Song of Achilles is on your list already, but that was going to be my suggestion. I would also recommend Cleopatra and Frankenstein if you think you’d like devastating yet beautiful emotional stories about realistic human connections.
