Absurd Concept with a Meaningful Message

Hello!

One of my all-time favorite pieces of media is Chainsaw Man. It has a silly concept with the protagonist being able to transform parts of his body into chainsaws. However, the character writing, humor, foreshadowing, and the underlying themes make it a great read. I wrote it off originally as a dumb shonen story and actually dropped it at one point because of the absurdity at certain parts. I’m glad I picked it back up.

I don’t want manga recommendations, though. I would like either a book series or standalone novel to read.
