So recently with Godzilla Minus One and Godzilla x Kong I've been reawakened to the genre of Kaiju and how fun it can be and how many different the stories you can tell in the space.

Right as I was thinking about finding a book to really flesh out the story of big monsters(something that can be quickly forgotten in the movie counterpart) I stumbled across The Kaiju Preservation Society.

Initially that seemed like a really interesting idea, a book written in the perspective of a scientist studying the biology of Kaiju with an interest in conservation of ridiculous monsters. However, reading the description and some reviews, it seems like the book is written in a way that leans too far into (for lack of a better phrase) "whedon-ism".

So I was hoping anyone knew of any Kaiju books that take inherently ridiculous idea really seriously. Or, if you have read The Kaiju Preservation Society, could let me know if my initial assumption was incorrect.

Any recommendations or advice is greatly appreciated.
