I’d love to read more horror/psychological thriller novels, but a lot of them are just straight up torture-porn. I CANNOT do torture. You know the two second clip in Lord of the Rings where they’re torturing Gollum for information? I have to skip that. Gore is okay, and I’m not sensitive to much else. Torture just makes me sick in a way I cannot explain.
I’ve seen a lot of recommendations for Freida McFadden in the thriller genre, but I find her writing to be a little too immature for me. I would love to find some horror books that are well-written as books, not just relying on the shock factor to be good.
