I’m done with “Carrie” by Stephen King. I have been very depressed recently, and am having trouble being consistent with my reading. What do you recommend next?

I disliked the ending of “Carrie” but felt that King really understood psychology (I always say this about his novels) – I also hated the interjections from the townspeople about the incident. I’ve read “Misery” (my first king novel, def makes my top 3 of king’s books,) “IT,” “the shining,” and “the green mile.” Maybe even another one I forgot.

I was thinking earlier today about how I want to reread “Lolita” by Nabokov, it’s my favorite novel. Best prose I’ve ever read, once again written by an author who really understood people, what makes them tick, but also just by a master of the English language.

I have read “1984” by George Orwell (loved it,) “Brave new world” (loved it,) “Fahrenheit 451” (mixed feelings,) “the Handmaid’s tale” (loved it,) etc.

I admittedly probably generally tend toward just reading the classics.
