I homeschool my daughter & want to do a "literature & movies" class. Looking for recommendations of books that were turned into movies. Her assignments are just writing a book report about how themes and ideas change between the two. I want to give her a list to choose from, but minimum she will be doing 6.
I'll be reading the books too, so there will be some discussion between us while reading, to make sure she understands the books.
Somethings that may help with recommendations:
She is 16. She struggled with 1984 & The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon (never finished), but liked Carrie & Institute. She's reading the "You" book series, said the first 2 were better than the the third, we still need to get the 4th. I'm pretty sure she also ready Inspection by Josh Malermen. (I also loved that one.)
She struggled with Harry Potter, Eragon, Inkheart. I don't think she's a fantasy girly.
She liked The Outsiders, cried at the end & read A Child Called It multiple times (cried the first few times) in middle school. She also reread Fish in a Tree multiple times when she was younger.
Really trying to build her enjoyment of reading, and hoping this class will help encourage her to read more often.
