I’m going hiking for 3 weeks, looking for something to read in the forest. More looking for nonfiction books about being in nature/wilderness itself or having adventures than for books about self-discovery or healing journeys.

    Have read and enjoyed:
    – everything by Jon krakauer
    – braiding sweet grass
    – barbadian days
    – a sand country almanac
    – the river why
    – endurance by Lansing
    – a woman in the polar night
    – sailing alone around the world
    – woman, captain, rebel
    – alone

Have read and did not enjoy:
    – wild
    – a walk in the woods
    – walden
    – alone against the north
    – to shake the sleeping self

Most of Gerald Durrell’s writing – *My Family and Other Animals* is a favourite launching point with his literature.

    2. I think we have similar taste! Look into *Desert Solitaire* by Edward Abbey and *The Hour of Land* by Terry Tempest Williams (or, really any essays by those two authors).
