    1. Paradise Lost by John Milton. Even as a nonbeliever, the last chapter is really moving

    2. Rick Warren’s **The Purpose Driven Life**. Its first sentence sets the tone.

Charles Stanley has written a number of books on a variety of topics. I suggest having a look through those.

    3. The Imitation of Christ by Thomas Á Kempis is a good one. Also, there is The Ladder of Divine Ascent by John Climacus and The Ascent of Mt. Carmel by John of the Cross. They were Catholic, but while being Protestant, I found them insightful. I liked The Crucified Life by A.W. Tozer as well.

    4. Greg Boyd’s myth of a Christian nation and letters from a skeptic. Bruxy caveys end of religion

    5. The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis

      The Confessions of St Augustine

The Heart of the Matter by Grahame Greene

The Brothers Karamazov, or perhaps just the Grand Inquisitor section, if you don’t fancy the whole thing, and The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoeyvsky

Orthodoxy, The Everlasting Man, and the Father Brown stories by GK Chesterton.

The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel. The movie was really moving so the book has to be great too!
