I find myself drawn to murder mysteries, psychological thrillers, and sci-fi when searching for books to read. I can’t think of a single book I’ve read that made me laugh or at least made me smile. I would like to read something light and positive for a change. I’m not really into romance novels but I don’t mind if it plays a part in the plot.

Edit: It can be a mystery, sci-fi , etc., I just don’t want it to be anything dark and serious. If I had to use movies/shows as examples I would say Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Only Murders in the Building, the Afterparty. I hope that makes sense.

my lucky star by joe Keenan. I think it really can be described as “a romp”. and unbelievably, everything works out just fine in the end.

The entire Discworld universe is the obvious suggestion haha. Start with Guards! Guards! for the city guards arc, Mort for the death arc, or Equal Rites for the witches arc.

    3. The funniest book I’ve ever read was George Carlin’s “Brain Droppings.” I was extremely depressed at the time, and this was exactly what I needed.

One of the few books that made me literally laugh out loud.

The Princess Bride by William Goldman. Light hearted and had me laughing out loud (HARD) many times throughout!
