Wuthering Heights is rapidly approaching on my TBR list. I had bought a copy from amazon because I loved the cover of this edition (Harper Artisan Edition), but then I saw a copy of the Penguin Classic version at a friends house yesterday and grew concerned a bit.
My concern is, the Penguin Classics version has a bunch of extra material, most importantly being annotations for certain words and phrases, providing translation, updates, or context.
My fancy, beautiful cover version doesn't have this. How important do you think that extra info is for a first timer? Flipping through the book, it seems like there are characters who speak in thick Scottish or Welsh or something. Many of these words are annotated.
Would I be better off returning the fancy one and just borrowing my friends copy? Any thoughts?
