Any books in which the protag is a thief/home invader/criminal of some kind and the tables get flipped on them?

Hey all! So I'm looking for a book where the protagonist is a thief/home invader/criminal of some sort and when they try to steal from/attack/vandalize another character/s they get tables turned on them- and the antagonist/s turn out to be way worse than them. Horror and blood/gore is a plus but not necessary.
