Scifi for someone who does not enjoy scifi

Basically the title.

Hey guys, I absolutely love reading and have been on a bit of a reading binge.

I'd really like to expand my interests and get into scifi, however I have never really enjoyed the genre, either TV or books. I do however like a scary alien movie from time to time..

Do you have any recommendations for starting out?

My favourite author is Stephen King, but I don't think his scify stuff would be good rignt now. Also don't mind some romance or spice, but I don't want it to be the whole plot, ya know?
