Not sure where to start.

Im working on being a writer as I have a lot of ideas on stories I want to share with others. Something I want to do to help me improve is start reading other books but ive only read a few books in my lifetime and dont know where to start. When it comes to stories/media i like its usually stuff thats very out there and different.
I dont like tropes and if i see story beats ive seen before i get uninterested. I dont really like fantasy and perfer more unique worlds.
I like anime because of the crazy concepts it can have. I like characters that are kinda messed up but are written well and have a reason as to why they are that way.

This may be kinda vauge as to what I like so im open for any questions thx!
