I wonder if there is a book about Cinderella dealing with CPTSD or abuse after being rescued from her abusive family – realizing that certain things are not the norm, or that abuse from the prince or the royals is not waiting around the corner? Perhaps also the anger of the Prince at those who abused his love before he met her?
I am a trans woman, almost 50, and …. well, frankly, some things in my life are finally going well. After a very, very long time of them going poorly. And it is hard not to believe as I describe above.
I imagine Cinderella the character predates Disney, but it's possible non-Disney stories about her have dried up as a result of Disney "might". So even if well-written fan fiction addresses this concept, I would appreciate the referral.
Frankly, if any author out there is trawling this subreddit for ideas, I think a series of "abuse recovery" books as classic heroines recover from the realistic trauma of their experiences could be potential best-sellers. I'm an amateur writer but just don't have it in me to write those, so please feel free to take it and run with it. If you do and want to pay off my debts when they're the next Harry Potter, I won't stop you. 🙂
