Is there a horror book where the scale of things is larger than usual?

I'd want to find a book, preferably an Audiobook, where the narration focus on hole cities or countries. Where a monster, creature or menace can scare/kill/affect multiple people at once and we see their reactions.
I don't know if there's a genre for this type of story, but preferably not cosmic horror, I've seen a lot already.
