I once picked up an inflight magazine on a KLM flight from Amsterdam Schiphol to Nairobi. Amid the usual duty-free and travel stuff, one article caught my eye. It featured a snippet from a book, which seemed to be a memoir of a Dutch nurse. She met a Canadian or American WWII soldier after her town was liberated. They got engaged shortly before he had to return home. The book also covered her life before and after the liberation, written in a present tense, describing her experiences flying on a KLM plane from the Netherlands to America to meet the soldier (I would imagine this is why it was featured on KLM’s Flying Dutchman Magazine in the first place). I think it immediately captured my attention because it combined war history and aviation, two genres I love.
The problem is, I took the magazine but lost it (this was back in 2016/17 lol), and I can't remember the book's title. It's been bugging me ever since! Not even AI can help! Any leads would be appreciated—I need to read it!!!
