Books with super in depth complex and psychologically interesting characters and writing

I know this is like duh of course you want this in a book but whenever I’m looking for books I’m never able to tell how it’s written based on the description. I prefer generally non horror and post apocalyptic stuff but literally anything is great I want a wide variety to look at.
