Here's what I loved about those books and would like to find in others:
- Deep emotional relationships between human and alien, despite the things that each will never understand about the other.
- Frank and well-rounded depictions of humanity. Capable both of violence and of love, growth, change.
- Thoughtful action sequences that create tension without dominating the story.
- (honestly: bonus points for weird alien sex)
