Looking for some cozy mysteries. Cozy but not cloying or overly sweet/trite. In the vein of the Inspector Armand Gamache series. Interesting characters and character development. Romance element is okay as long as it is, again, not overly sweet.

The Bruno Courrèges series by Martin Walker. The first book is Bruno, Chief of Police.
If you aren’t opposed to older Steff, you might enjoy Georgette Heyer’s mysteries. Envious Casca comes to mind.
Try the first Cat Who book , Lilian Jackson Braun. It might be too cutesy for you.
Lord Peter Wimsey , Dorothy Sayers . The Thin Man , Dashiel Hammett
