Fantasy book for a non-reader trying to get back into it!

Ashamedly I'm not a big reader, I would love to get back into books like I did when I was a teenager.

I absolutely loved the Inheritance series in my teenager years and children of the lamp series in my childhood.

Someone suggested the A Court of Thorn and Roses series to me but I was put off by someone's description of it being "fairy porn"

If it helps with the recommendations, in a late twenties guy (who isn't into fairy porn)
