    Hey all. So as the title already implies, what should my 10yo son read after he finished the Harry Potter series. We've watched the movies first and after that he started reading the books. The kid really likes to read and i was wondering if this community has some tips on some (likewise) books to read.

    1. Percy Jackson. With the new show also coming out with more seasons on the way I think you’ll be able to enjoy a steady stream of good storys

      The Percy Jackson series. There are plenty of books and they are based around Greek mythology. Not sure I can do it justice in a short review, but each book is fast-paced and fun, plus you learn quite a bit about Greek mythology. There are also other spin-off series such as Magnus Chase (Norse myths) and Heroes of Olympus (Roman myths), as well as The Kane Chronicles (Egyptian mythology). Good fun!

      Once he gets a little older he may enjoy the Shadowhunters series by Cassandra Clare, which is about demon hunters, though she has another series called Magisterium, co-written with Holly Black, that he might enjoy.

      He also might like the Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix. The first book is Mr. Monday and the series is very easy to get into. This also provides a natural progression to his books Sabriel, Abhorsen and Lirael later on.

      These were all fantasy recommendations but there are also plenty of dystopian books as well that are very good. Here’s a general list of starting points in that genre:

      * Maze Runner

      -Divergent

      -The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins)

      Happy Reading!

      The [Nevermoor](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34219873-nevermoor) series by Jessica Townsend. It’s full of adventure and magic and wonderful stuff. I wouldn’t say it’s all out dark.

      Here’s the summary for the first book.

      A cursed girl escapes death and finds herself in a magical world – but is then tested beyond her wildest imagination

      Morrigan Crow is cursed. Having been born on Eventide, the unluckiest day for any child to be born, she’s blamed for all local misfortunes, from hailstorms to heart attacks–and, worst of all, the curse means that Morrigan is doomed to die at midnight on her eleventh birthday.

      But as Morrigan awaits her fate, a strange and remarkable man named Jupiter North appears. Chased by black-smoke hounds and shadowy hunters on horseback, he whisks her away into the safety of a secret, magical city called Nevermoor.

      It’s then that Morrigan discovers Jupiter has chosen her to contend for a place in the city’s most prestigious organization: the Wundrous Society. In order to join, she must compete in four difficult and dangerous trials against hundreds of other children, each boasting an extraordinary talent that sets them apart – an extraordinary talent that Morrigan insists she does not have. To stay in the safety of Nevermoor for good, Morrigan will need to find a way to pass the tests – or she’ll have to leave the city to confront her deadly fate.

      Edit: It has a giant talking cat in it. That is all.
