I'm a "watch-netflix-till-i-fall-asleep" kind of gal, but I'm going on a backpacking trip for a month and will only have access to my kindle. I know it will be hard for me to fall asleep (watching TV usually helps quiet my anxious mind), so I'm seeking suggestions for funny and/or comforting books to read while I'm out in the woods.
I already have Anne of Green Gables downloaded, as well as The Man Who Ate Everything by Jeffrey Steingarten, which is just the right amount of funny/interesting/low stakes. I'm open to any/all suggestions!

If you’re open to very long books, I recommend [The Hands of the Emperor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/af2bba9c-8f41-4a3e-b87a-8532a44ccb67) by Victoria Goddard! It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships. A really comforting and feel good read.
Some comforting (sometimes outdoorsy) fiction that I’ve enjoyed:
* North Woods by Daniel Mason (Western MA setting; beautiful prose with poetry among the chapters)
* The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert (Based in Philadelphia but MC’s travels take her all over the world, focus on botany)
* The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Society by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows (A charming story set during German occupation of the Island of Guernsey, an exchange of letters and a book club bring people together. )
