For context, he writes crime thrillers with layered commentary on race, politics, etc (best known for Razorblade Tears and All the Sinners Bleed). On top of that the writing is just gorgeous and deeply immersive, it kind of reminds me of Chester Himes.
I’ve read all his novels, as well as books he’s recommended/been compared to like Dennis Lehane and Jahmal Mayfield. The latter didn’t hit for me. Any suggestions?
