Hello, I love reading (psychological) thrillers and mysteries but unfortunately almost all good ones contain some animal abuse/torture scenes and I always have to skip those parts because they trigger me so badly I start crying (same with movies). I was thinking about "Sharp objects" by Gillian Flynn until I found out there was actually animal cruelty in it. Are there any good books in those genres with no animal suffering? Thanks!

If it helps, the animal abuse described in Sharp Objects isn’t like an unnecessarily gratuitous pet death – it’s when a character goes to a factory farm, and you can easily see it coming and skip the rest of the chapter without missing much. It is meaningful, but storywise, it’s just some character insight. It happens in Chapter 7. It’s my all time favourite thriller, and is very much worth a read if you can get past that.
But for a thriller/mystery with NONE featured – I think Someone We Know by Shari Lapena might fit the bill.
